Trip to Kent's Cavern
In Class 1, we were lucky enough to go to Kent’s Cavern. This linked with our Journeys topic. We learnt about the journey of the Archaeologist, William Pengelly, as well as the journey many cave men and women would have made.
The children particularly enjoyed being in total darkness, and later, hunting for hidden gems. They also were excited to handle different bones and artefacts that had been discovered in the caves. Inspired by this trip, we returned to school brimming with enthusiasm to use what we had learnt. We wrote about the experiences of the cave dwellers and how they may have felt entering the cave and we created hand print cave paintings in our Art.
Lots of us are now looking forward to going back a second time to learn more about the caves, using our free ticket!
